What it feels like for a girl

When I do the work and the work
When I watch my hemlines and my necklines
When I watch my mouth and what I put in it
When I go to church and when I pray
When I get good grades and over achieve
When I sever ties to make way for purported new ties
When I don’t get on a plane to see the hills every morning

Why is it not enough?
Why am I not ‘perfect?’

Back backwards bending
Just so I can accommodate my heritage
I cherish my heritage
Not so much, that I break.
Thank you.
No perfect daughter/sister/wife/woman.
I pledge my allegiance to sin woman

Can't please 'em anyway, so hell, let me just do what I want!! :D
Not being feminist but its past time the guys get badgered too.I think our boys have been resting on their laurels for too long. They too need to be told to get up, get a job, and if they cant, be productive at home.

The perfect daughter/sister/wife/woman is a myth. No way we are ever going to live upto it anyway.

@kus: what i dont understand is...what laurels? i didnt write it as a jab at men, just frustrated by how male-centric our society is. and like u said, im not a feminist because i truly believe it is us women who have enabled this convulated way of existing.
btw, ya know how 'other' people always say Eng Lit people are pseudo intellectuals....its soooo true.i revel in it :-)))

hahaha,,i knoww..the whole pseudo thing really gets me. I kinda believe it too.Damn :(
Laurels as in, their vaunted manhood. I mean, okay, our forefathers were hunters, warriors and field hands too so they didnt need to be concerned with any other role.Hell, they were men, and I mean that superlatively. Now the roles have merged, and I think its mothers learn to stop treating their sons like future warriors, hunters et al and face reality...its a different jungle out there and they are not equipping them with the right tools. Chung vel chu, hihih..

Where's Damien Rice? :((
